On the occasion of International Safe Abortion Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) will host the international online webinar “From Guidelines to Collective Action: WHO Resources for Comprehensive Abortion Care at a Critical Time” on 28 September 2026. The event will take place from 16:00 to 17:00 CET and will bring together healthcare professionals, researchers, civil society representatives, policymakers and advocates working in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The webinar aims to showcase WHO resources designed to support the implementation of comprehensive abortion care and to facilitate knowledge sharing among professionals and organizations working in this area. Participants will learn more about the WHO Abortion Care Guideline, its key recommendations and their implications for delivering quality, evidence-based and rights-based abortion care.

The event will also introduce several practical WHO tools, including the Law and Policy Practice Guide, the Measuring Abortion Care Framework and Indicators, the We Care scenario modelling tool and the Comprehensive Abortion Care Wheel. These resources are intended to help countries, programmes and healthcare providers translate recommendations into practice, remove barriers and improve access to safe and equitable abortion care.

Participants will also be introduced to the IBP Comprehensive Abortion Care Community of Practice, a global platform that supports collaboration and knowledge exchange between WHO, the Human Reproduction Programme (HRP) and partners working to advance comprehensive abortion care worldwide.
