TED Supports Safe Abortion Access Through Major Grant to Ipas

03 March, 2026

TED is investing millions to expand access to safe abortion in 10 countries and help prevent more than 22.6 million unintended pregnancies through a significant grant from the Audacious Project to the international reproductive justice organization Ipas. This is the first time the TED initiative has funded an organization specifically focused on abortion access and care. The funding comes from a collaborative network of philanthropic donors supporting high impact global work in health, environmental protection, and human rights.

With this support, Ipas will operate in 10 priority countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America to expand access to medication abortion, contraception, and reproductive health services. The organization aims to reduce unsafe abortions by 30 percent in these regions by 2040, prevent millions of unintended pregnancies, and help avert thousands of maternal deaths.

The funding will address legal, social, and systemic barriers that restrict access to reproductive healthcare while also working to reduce stigma within communities.
