On September 4, 2026, the Reproductive Health Training Center of the Republic of Moldova (RHTC/CIDSR) organized the national seminar “Comprehensive Abortion Care: Modern Approaches to Medical Abortion” in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The seminar was organized by CIDSR in partnership with the Kyrgyz Family Planning Alliance, with financial support from the Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF).

The event brought together 26 faculty members from medical educational institutions across Kyrgyzstan. All participants are also practicing healthcare professionals working in both the public and private sectors. Their involvement is particularly important for strengthening both clinical practice and medical education in the country.

The training was led by Dr. Rodica Comendant, WHO expert and Director of CIDSR. During the seminar, participants explored modern approaches to medical abortion, patient counseling, telemedicine, management of complications, post-abortion care, and contraception.

The discussions were based on the 2022 World Health Organization recommendations and the National Clinical Guideline “Safe Termination of Pregnancy”, approved in 2024.

By supporting healthcare providers and medical educators, the initiative contributes to the dissemination of evidence-based practices and the continuous improvement of reproductive healthcare services in Kyrgyzstan.

CIDSR expresses its gratitude to the Kyrgyz Family Planning Alliance for its partnership and to the Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF) for supporting regional efforts aimed at strengthening evidence-based healthcare practices and improving women’s access to safe reproductive health services.
