Project “WHO 2022 recommendations on family planning and safe abortion closer to women and health care providers in Transnistria”

PROJECT GOAL: Implementation of the latest WHO recommendations on safe abortion and family planning services in Transnistria.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

  1. Inclusion of telemedicine MA into the current public healthcare system by local public health authorities in Transnistria.
  2. Strengthen the capacity to provide MA through telemedicine and coordinate the service in the region by the Reproductive Health and Family Planning Centre in Tiraspol through its seven model reproductive health centres.
  3. Provision quality MA counselling via telemedicine to women and girls in Transnistria by ob-gyns from the CAC models centres.
  4. Increased access to MA information and services among women and girls in Transnistria, especially those who live in rural areas, have fewer financial resources, or have disabilities.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

  • Organize project launch event with key stakeholders, including local public health authorities from Transnistria
  • Carry out round table meetings with local public health authorities from Transnistria and other relevant stakeholders to discuss feasibility and potential steps for implementing WHO recommendations on self-care and integrating MA via telemedicine into official standards of care.
  • Conduct trainings with staff of the Reproductive Health and Family Planning Centre in Tiraspol on logistics and management of MA via telemedicine.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Reproductive Health and Family Planning Centre in offering and coordinating the MA via telemedicine service in Transnistria.
  • Develop interactive website for MA information, including via telemedicine, for service provision in Transnistria.
  • Facilitate trainings with qualified abortion providers from the 7 model centers in Transnistria on the latest WHO recommendations from 2022 and the provision of MA via telemedicine.
  • Provision of medical abortion via telemedicine services to women and girls with unwanted pregnancy in Transnistria.
  • Produce and distribute informational materials about the MA via telemedicine service.
  • Organize stakeholder dissemination meeting to discuss project outcomes and develop an action plan for sustaining activities and results.
