Information sessions for obstetrician-gynaecologists from reproductive health cabinets and family doctors from all regions of the Republic of Moldova on the rights and sexual health of girls/women with disabilities[:]
It is important for people with disabilities to have more confidence in their ability to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights in everyday life and to benefit from quality services in this area.
To this end, the Reproductive Health Training Centre sees the need to provide support through education and capacity building not only to people with disabilities but also to a wider range of professionals providing sexual and reproductive health services.
Thus. on 20 and 24 October, CIDSR, in partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova, the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemițanu”, AO “Motivație” of Moldova, organised information sessions for gynaecologists-obstetricians from reproductive health cabinets and family doctors.
During the sessions, hundreds of doctors from most regions of the country strengthened their knowledge about sexual and reproductive health and its components in the context of disability.
Primary health care staff received information geared towards providing disability-friendly SRH services with a special focus on communication skills, non-discrimination and recognition of the sexual and reproductive rights and needs of women and girls with special needs.
The information sessions were carried out within the framework of the project “Inclusive and Accessible for All: A Multi-Component Approach to Advancing the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Women and Girls with Disabilities”, with the financial support of the Embassy of Finland in Bucharest within the Local Cooperation Fund.
