24 July, 2023

Thanks to the project – “Strengthening Moldova’s social cohesion and resilience to the Ukrainian refugee crisis” with the support of Solidarities International, the third round of the “Summer Challenge” camp in the Adam Mickiewicz Library has ended.

The summer of the year – 2023, is expected to be a very hot and productive one.
Together with the 25 children, enrolled in the 3rd round of the day camp, we aimed to promote a healthy way of life in a green and eco-friendly city like our Chisinau.
New friendships, new challenges, emotions, discussions, unforgettable memories, new places discovered, information, surprises and of course lots of smiles – these are the notions that describe the 3rd tour of the “Summer Challenge – 2023”.

During these 2 weeks the children continued to learn English, board games were organized:

  • Board game “On the way home”,
  • The board game: the surprise maze;

The children also continued to be involved in various workshops:

  • Cooking workshop: Jelly in a glass;
  • Gardening workshop: ECO garden on the windowsill (hydration and sprouting of wheat);
  • Reading workshop: The Wolf, by M. Cibotaru;

Field trips remain one of the most enjoyable activities for the children in our camp.

  • Excursion to Edu Joc – workshop for the creation of eco toys, Floreni commune, rn. Anenii Noi, which is more than a shop, selling toys and educational wooden games. Through the workshops they organize, they aim to raise a new generation of creative, intelligent and ecologically educated children. Real fun for all children from 1 to 99 years old!

No less beautiful and interesting was the children’s participation in the show “Good morning”, where they discussed how they spend their holidays, but also what challenges they are facing this summer.

Also a lot of pleasure and curiosity brought the children outdoor games, music classes, reading tour: read at least 20 minutes/day; discussions with psychologists from INTERSOS Moldova: “Providing psychological support to improve interpersonal relationships”,

Likewise, the children were happy to engage in thematic discussions, such as :

  • Thematic discussion : Rules of behaviour in case of fire;
  • Thematic discussion: Be safe, the police inform you;
  • Thematic discussion: Sustainable energy and its benefits;
  • Practical training: Giving medical first aid;

We sincerely thank the volunteers, teachers, partners and last but not least the sponsors – AFD and FDF, for every dream day the children have experienced this summer!
Dear children, may you have a summer as colourful and joyful as these two weeks were during the “Summer Challenge” camp.
