In 2018, the adolescent fertility rate was 22.2 per 1,000 women aged 15-19, more than double the EU average of 8.9. On average, 2,500 of the 3,300 teenage girls in the country who become pregnant give birth each year. According to the Health Behavior in School-Aged Children (HBSC) survey conducted in 2017, 44% of 15-17-year-olds in Moldova who had sex did not use any of the most common contraceptive methods (condom or pill) during their last sexual intercourse. These results almost echo the results of another survey conducted in 2019 among 19-24 year old students studying at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Moldova, which showed that 47% of respondents did not use any contraception during their last sexual intercourse, and of those who mentioned using contraception, 25% used an abstinence method.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the incidence of sexually transmitted infections (especially syphilis and gonorrhea) among young people aged 15-19 years was recorded at 160 per 100,000 in 2014, the highest rate in all of Europe, and HIV incidence among young people aged 15-24 years almost doubled between 2000 and 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Although sex education in Moldovan schools has been compulsory by law since 2012, in practice it remains largely optional. Of all the courses offered in primary and secondary schools in Moldova, the optional health education course has the highest number of lessons on sexual and reproductive health (SRH); however, in 2019, only 10% of adolescents attended this course.<\/p>\n<p>Stereotypical attitudes and inequality of gender roles persist in Moldovan society. For example, according to a survey conducted in 2015 by the Women&#8217;s Law Center, 90.5% of men and 81.5% of women believe that the most important thing for a woman is taking care of household chores and cooking for her family. In addition, 95% of men and 75% of women believe that changing diapers, bathing and feeding children are the responsibilities of a mother. Correspondingly, 41% of men and 19% of women said that there are times when a woman should be beaten. Two out of five women (40%) stated that they had been physically or sexually abused by a partner or non-partner since the age of 15.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, the degree of tolerance for sexual diversity in Moldovan society is low. LGBTQ persons in Moldova face significant discrimination, hostility and violence because of their sexual orientation and gender identity. According to a 2015 United Nations survey, only 18% of the population was willing to accept this.<\/p>\n<p>The right of every young person to be informed and have access to reliable sources of sex education, as well as moral and documentation support, especially for children and youth in villages;<\/p>\n<p>This project will have two phases: the first is to inform, document and analyze the situation on the ground (organizing focus groups and questionnaires for youth), the second is to train enough librarians to meet the information needs of youth and disseminate information to colleagues in their districts.<\/p>\n<p>Most parents avoid discussing certain sex related topics with their children, some do so out of ignorance and others do not feel it is necessary for their child to know about it. Therefore, the role of the library will be to be an intermediary between the teenager and school, but a safe place with a trusted person where the young person can get answers to any questions or be referred to an institution that can help. 10 librarians (from 5 regions of the Republic of Moldova) will be specially trained in this direction.<\/p>\n<p>The duration of the project, 5 months. During the research period, 10 thematic games will be purchased for libraries, with the help of which they will conduct trainings with young people in their localities, because the game, regardless of the age of the player, is the most appropriate tool for &#8220;uncovering&#8221; the problem and obtaining appropriate answers.<\/p>\n<p>The beneficiaries of the project will be young people from villages and towns in the Republic of Moldova, 50% girls and 50% boys. They will be identified together with local social workers and librarians, with priority given to young people from vulnerable families, young people whose parents work abroad, young people facing the problem of lack of sex education, young people from Roma families, young people with disabilities, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Project Objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To conduct research to identify stereotypes and taboos in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people for further use in the creation of educational and awareness-raising campaigns for young people.<\/li>\n<li>Promotion of a peer-to-peer approach among young people. despre educa\u021bia sexual\u0103 prin intermediul bibliotecilor publice din Republica Moldova.\n\nSitua\u021bia tinerilor moldoveni este foarte \u00eengrijor\u0103toare, mul\u021bi indicatori cheie fiind semnificativ mai r\u0103i dec\u00e2t \u00een alte \u021b\u0103ri din regiune. \u00cen 2018, rata natalit\u0103\u021bii \u00een r\u00e2ndul adolescentelor a fost de 22,2 la 1 000 de femei cu v\u00e2rsta cuprins\u0103 \u00eentre 15 \u0219i 19 ani, mai mult dec\u00e2t dublu fa\u021b\u0103 de media UE de 8,9. \u00cen medie, 2.500 dintre cele 3.300 de adolescente din \u021bar\u0103 care r\u0103m\u00e2n \u00eens\u0103rcinate dau na\u0219tere \u00een fiecare an. Potrivit sondajului Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children (HBSC) din 2017, 44% dintre adolescen\u021bii de 15-17 ani din Moldova care au avut rela\u021bii sexuale nu au folosit niciuna dintre cele mai comune metode contraceptive (prezervativ sau pilul\u0103) \u00een timpul ultimului lor raport sexual. Dintre toate cursurile oferite \u00een \u0219colile primare \u0219i secundare din Moldova, cursul op\u021bional de educa\u021bie pentru s\u0103n\u0103tate are cel mai mare num\u0103r de lec\u021bii privind s\u0103n\u0103tatea sexual\u0103 \u0219i reproductiv\u0103 (SSR); cu toate acestea, \u00een 2019, doar 10 % dintre adolescen\u021bi au urmat acest curs.\n\n\u00cen societatea moldoveneasc\u0103 persist\u0103 atitudinile stereotipe \u0219i inegalitatea rolurilor de gen. Potrivit unui sondaj realizat de Organiza\u021bia Na\u021biunilor Unite \u00een 2015, doar 18 % din popula\u021bie era dispus\u0103 s\u0103 accepte acest lucru.\n\nDreptul fiec\u0103rui t\u00e2n\u0103r de a fi informat \u0219i de a avea acces la surse fiabile de educa\u021bie sexual\u0103, precum \u0219i la sprijin moral \u0219i documentar, \u00een special pentru copiii \u0219i tinerii de la sate;\n\nAcest proiect va avea dou\u0103 etape: prima const\u0103 \u00een informarea, documentarea \u0219i analiza situa\u021biei de pe teren (organizarea de grupuri de discu\u021bii \u0219i chestionare cu tinerii), iar a doua const\u0103 \u00een formarea unui num\u0103r suficient de bibliotecari pentru a r\u0103spunde nevoilor de informare ale tinerilor \u0219i pentru a disemina informa\u021biile c\u0103tre colegii din districtele lor.\n\nMajoritatea p\u0103rin\u021bilor evit\u0103 s\u0103 discute cu copiii lor anumite subiecte legate de sex, unii o fac din ignoran\u021b\u0103, iar al\u021bii nu consider\u0103 c\u0103 este necesar ca copilul lor s\u0103 \u0219tie despre acest lucru. Ace\u0219tia vor fi identifica\u021bi \u00eempreun\u0103 cu asisten\u021bii sociali \u0219i bibliotecarii locali, cu prioritate tinerii din familii vulnerabile, tinerii ai c\u0103ror p\u0103rin\u021bi lucreaz\u0103 peste hotare, tinerii care se confrunt\u0103 cu problema lipsei de educa\u021bie sexual\u0103, tinerii din familii de romi, tinerii cu dizabilit\u0103\u021bi etc.\n\nObiectivele proiectului:\n<ul>\n \t<li>Efectuarea de cercet\u0103ri pentru a identifica stereotipurile \u0219i tabuurile \u00een domeniul s\u0103n\u0103t\u0103\u021bii \u0219i drepturilor sexuale \u0219i reproductive ale tinerilor, \u00een vederea utiliz\u0103rii ulterioare \u00een crearea de campanii educa\u021bionale \u0219i de sensibilizare a tinerilor.<\/li>\n \t<li>Promovarea unei abord\u0103ri de la egal la egal \u00een r\u00e2ndul tinerilor.
